Amplifying Coalition Voices Through Storytelling
Multiple units within a large private foundation sought to raise awareness of work by both its internal team and its investees and grantees to improve equity and inclusion in financial services, the economy, and the American workforce.
Challenge
Through strategic collaboration across for-profit and nonprofit organizations, the foundation sought a team of impact storytelling professionals with financial industry expertise to help them elevate insights from expert voices and programs working to change capitalism for the better, keeping external attention on the social issues that matter most to them.
Solution
Bliss collaborated with the client to uncover their key social pillars and message champions. We evaluated the tangible outcomes of their funding, programming, and on-the-ground actions to help home in on storytelling opportunities. We then worked with the client to create and promote thought leadership, messaging, earned media, social content, and owned content that highlighted the impactful work of the client’s initiatives and internal leaders, as well as those within their investee and grantee ecosystem. When possible, we also helped establish connections between like-minded organizations to cross-promote thought leadership, bringing greater credibility and weight to calls to action.
Tactics included:
- Building a messaging hub focused on ESG and impact investing to align a large group of nonprofits around effective communication tactics
- Elevating executive visibility via media interviews, contributed media content, and amplification of LinkedIn presence, covering topics such as ESG measurement, long-termism, human capital, diversity in private markets, and more
- Extensive marketing communications strategy development and execution to uplift key programs, launches, announcements, content releases, and thought leadership across more than 10 different investees and grantees annually
- Amplifying media awareness of national public finance-focused events hosted by the grantee
Impact
The client saw a marked increase in awareness of their work and their economic equity philosophy, as well as more demand for insights from their network of expert voices. We secured media opportunities with critical national and trade publications that reach fund managers, institutional investors, private equity decisionmakers, and more — including Barron’s, Fortune, ImpactAlpha, MarketWatch, New York Times, Pensions & Investments, and The Wall Street Journal. The client also established a recurring column in Forbes.
